Current News
Beginning in the fall of 2010 and throughout the summer of 2011 Hoffman Construction will be working in the Upper Harbor as part of a very important $18 million Army Corps of Engineers Lock and Dam 3 improvement project. The activity in the Upper Harbor will include significant barge loading and offloading activity along with significant truck traffic. Most activity will occur Monday through Friday.
While the City of Red Wing, the Red Wing Port Authority Ole Miss Marina, and Hoffman Construction will be taking extraordinary measures to mitigate the impact, boaters will, on occasion, be impacted by the activity.
While we ask all boaters to bear with some level of inconvenience, we also ask you to please contact us if you feel overwhelmed by the activity.
At 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 26th the Harbor Commission will hold a workshop to discuss steps we might take to lessen the impact on Red Wing recreational boaters. The meeting will take place at 419 Bush Street in Red Wing.
If you have any questions or concerns about this project please call Marina Manager Kevin Traster at 651-388-5839, Myron White at 651-385-3697 or 651-764-3335. We will also create a comment board on both the Red Wing Port Authority and Ole Miss Marina web sites.
Thank you for your understanding. This is a very significant project that will improve boating and habitat on the Upper Mississippi.
